"Empowering Families, Exposing Injustice"

WHO WE ARE:

FRANKLIN COUNTY FAMILIES FIGHTING BACK
is a coalition of individuals from across the county who share a common experience: victimization by Franklin County CPS and foster care. We have witnessed firsthand the agency's failure to serve its noble cause and instead, observed its employees operating outside the law, often directly harming the children they are supposed to protect.
In response, we have taken action. We have educated ourselves on the proper procedures and legal standards, comparing them to the actual practices of the agency. Our aim is to end the injustices committed against our families.
We are not lawyers. However, we recognize when our rights are violated and our children are harmed. We are united in our resolve to stand up and say, "No more!"

WHO WE ARE not:

THERE ARE MANY INDIVIDUALS AND ORGANIZATIONS WHO VIEW THIS AS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR PERSONAL OR FINANCIAL GAIN. THE WHOLE THING HAS BECOME A BUSINESS RATHER THAN A PROTECTIVE ENTITY THAT STRENGTHENS COMMUNITIES.
We do not want anything from you. We are not seeking financial donations, tax breaks, preferencial treatment or special recognition. We wish only to be a comfort to those who are in the grip of this nightmare, and to serve as a guiding beacon, giving others a direction toward a better day.

what we plan to do:

WE ARE GOING TO HELP RAISE AWARENESS AND EXPOSE THE CORRUPTION. WE ARE GOING TO GIVE THE SILENCED A VOICE. WE ARE GOING TO DEMAND JUSTICE: BY CALLING ON THOSE WITH THE POWER AND RESPONSIBILTY TO ENSURE ACCOUNTABILITY AND OVERSIGHT to these agencies, AND DEMANDING THAT THOSE WHO ARE abusing the power THEY HAVE BEEN GIVEN AS meANS TO protect THE MOST VULNERABLE AMONG US, AND MAKING IT KNOWN THAT THE FAMILIES OF THIS COUNTY WILL NO LONGER SIT BY AND ALLOW THIS TO CONTINUE.

Victims Of The System: The Dark Side Of Child Welfare

"Victims of the System" by James Hubbard offers a detailed look at CPS issues in Franklin County. A local father who, like thousands of others, was sucked into an unnecessary nightmare of emotional abuse. The trauma he and his family suffered drove him to become more than just another victim. Feeling that he could possibly make a difference, Mr. Hubbard decided to speak out. Despite the risk it put him and his family in, he wrote a book that is both informative and engaging. Whether you are trying to get a better understanding of the problem at hand or you're facing a CPS investigation yourself Victims of the System is a perfect starting point!
***UPDATE*** WE RECENTLY WERE TOLD THERE IS A FOLLOW-UP TO HIS FIRST BOOK BEING WORKED ON CURRENTLY. THIS SECOND INSTALLMENT FOCUSES ON INDIVIDUAL FAMILIES IN HOPES OF GIVING NAMES AND FACES TO THE STATISTICS THEY HAVE BEEN REDUCED TO.

"The Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) is committed to improving the well-being and safety of our children, families, and communities by providing high-quality services, fostering partnerships, and ensuring accountability."

Our Call to Action:

We, the families of Franklin County, demand that the OCFS upholds its mission by taking immediate action to address and rectify the severe issues within Child Protective Services (CPS) in our community.

However, Franklin County CPS has strayed far from this noble mission. We have witnessed firsthand how CPS has violated the very principles set forth by its governing body, causing harm to the children and families they are supposed to protect. In many cases this system is deliberately weaponized by those in power. That is the biggest crime of all, and the damage done lasts a life time. We cannot remain silent while our rights are trampled and our children are put at risk. Franklin County Families Fighting Back is calling on all individuals who have been affected by CPS’s misconduct to unite with us. Together, we can expose these violations and demand accountability.
